Live With A Passionate Palette.

SPOTLIGHT#2 LOVE, LIVE, LAUGH, LEARN, AND LEAVE A LEGACY The two women that made a huge difference in my life were Mama Ruthie and Granny Edith. They taught me the following: Psalm 34: 8 Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. Blessed is he who takes refuge in Him. So many people just go through the motions of everyday life. Many people never truly live. In my youth, I lived on a 15 acre, country abode, north of Montgomery, near what is now King’s Island. In the 50’s-60’s, long before technology, families got together…

SHARING THE SPIRIT DURING SURGERY

“See Ya when the Trumpet Sounds, Sweetie.” Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am a people lover. Anytime God gives me an opportunity to connect in a fun-loving way, I go for it. My husband recently had a knee replacement. As I was biding my time in the surgery waiting room, I went to get a magazine. Approaching the table, there was an Afro-American Family laughing and carrying on…

Remembering Granny Laible

SPOTLIGHT #1- My Dear Sweet Granny and Mother taught my sister and I some valuable Lessons. These are the values they lived by: Love, Live, Laugh, Learn, and Leave a Legacy. Here is the first spotlight in this series. WHAT IS LOVE? -Valentines Day Remembering Granny Laible Throughout the ages, love has been the one and only thing that humans cannot live without. Valentines Day was over the top, as usual. My man gave me a card, and we went out to lunch. However, you want to know what my favorite time is to spend with him? After dinner, the…

MOTHERS ON THE GO

Be Still and Know That He Is God Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered. “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.” A stay- at- home mom raised me. Back in the 50-60’s era, that was the norm. Presently, most moms work out of necessity. However, we take pride in our education and careers. I was at home raising 2 boys for 5 years. I really felt the need and push, to reinvent myself. I…

THERE IS MORE

Book: Brian Houston of Hillsong Ministries. 2Cor 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. There are times in our lives when God literally hits you over the head and exclaims, “Hello Little One…that was Me!” There’s often times when I’ll meet someone, and out of nowhere, we’ll have this in depth conversation of faith. We’ll look at each before bidding adieu and exclaim, ”That was a Divine Appointment!” If you’ve read the…

Love, Live, Laugh, Learn, and Leave a Legacy

Spolight 4 Learn PS 78:1-4 O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old-what we have heard and known, what our fathers have taught us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His powers and wonders He has done. Proverbs 8:10 (Speaking about wisdom) Choose instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. There are many ways to learn. College is not…

THE BLESSED VIRGIN

1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. I am a Catholic; however, I worship with my non-Catholic friends, as well. My mother Ruthie, taught me that my Jesus has no denomination. Praying the Rosary is very prominent in my heritage. In 1918,at 2 years of age, my mother lay in a coma, due to meningitis. The doctor told my Granny Edith, to prepare to call the undertaker. In faith, Granny prayed…

SHATTER YOUR PAST WITH THE ROCK

His Grace is sufficient. Isaiah 33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of The Lord (knowledge) is the key to this treasure. Do you ever wish that you could go back and correct the immature mistakes from your teen/college years? After 12 years of nuns, I broke loose a bit. Although I didn’t believe in everything that was shoved down my throat, my faith and deep belief in Christ, was very strong. I dated some real weirdos; guys that were handsome on the outside…

I’M DIALING UP

Ps.46:10 Be still and know that I AM GOD. I will be exalted in this earth. Ps.56 3-4 When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God whose word I trust, I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?………Ya Think? I built my possible situation into a huge mountain. My husband was facing a joint replacement, which is not that big of a deal in this day and age. I was facing another event that made me totally apprehensive. My brain was in a funk. I…

IN HIS IMAGE

For God so loved the world. Genesis 1: 26 Then God said, ”Let us make man in our own (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) image and likeness. Let them rule over all creatures, the fish in the sea, and the birds in the air. So God created man in His own image. He created them male and female.” My youngest son has a great deal of spiritual depth. We had a conversation recently about the following: Our minds cannot fully grasp the glory of God, and the creation of the universe. Somewhere, there is a possibility of: * Other galaxies * Creatures unlike…

Follow the path

A path can look like any stretch we choose to walk/follow. Some are straight, wide, and ambling roadways; others are crooked, narrow, and practically vertical! Each will lead us somewhere but the amount of strength and perseverance will vary greatly. What does your path look like? The one less traveled with thorns, brush, and difficult navigation could very well be the one God has called you to travel! Father God, walk this path with me, catch me when I ustumble or fall. Heal the brokenness in me. For all who read these words please pour out blessings. Amen Sandra…

People……the good, the bad, the “ugly”

I am sure you have heard the expression, “that’s ugly”, but have you ever really stopped and thought about those words? I shy away from calling a person ugly, beauty is defined very differently from person to person; but actions can be very ugly. Today I experienced ugly! During my shift at work a woman came to pick up her prescription and became so angry and hostile because her insurance wouldn’t cover it, she was too early in refilling, and she didn’t want to pay anything out of pocket. She yelled, accused…

Are you serious…..the early years continued

As I previously shared, my first marriage was a “train wreck about to happen” due to both of our childhoods. I didn’t trust men and he didn’t trust women. Plus, he was twice divorced which should have been my clue but I was too naive and stubborn. I was so determined to be the ‘perfect’ wife I completely lost me in the mix. I tried to keep him happy, doing for him, and all the while I forgot about me. At the same time that I was trying so hard-he was…

Timing

Several years ago a friend shared some irises with me and I planted them in my yard. They didn’t bloom until this year. Timing is very interesting and it is all God’s. Why do things happen when they do? Why do we have to wait for so many things in life? I can’t answer those, but I know God has this and is taking care of all things. People and illness, heartache, sin, and broken lives. Please join me in praying for all who suffer. Thank you Lord, may the lost be found, the…
