Pray…Seek God. And He will tell you who you are.

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I absolutely love looking up quotes of wisdom. One sentence, or just a few words, can alter someone’s life.

There comes a time in our life, when struggles seem overwhelming. If you are a Christian, you realize that struggles form our characters. It’s God’s way of molding us.

Quite often when I give my testimony, I begin with the following sentence: God took me apart, and put me together the way He wanted me to be. It was anything but a fun ride. However, now I bear The Fruit of The Spirit.

When I read the above quote from Thoreau, I thought, ”Wow! Not a truer statement was made!” Then I realized something really cool…sort of a God Thing.

Henry David Thoreau was thorough in his thinking. He was one who always looked inside oneself and nature, for answers to life.

After the birth of our second son, my health took a turn for the worse. It took awhile to overcome the darkness of post-partum issues that my body and soul were thrown into.

I can remember 10 years later, watching Phil Donahue as I cared for our 3rd son. He was talking about depression and how the medical world was changing, improving, and conquering this disease

“OMG! They finally get it! It’s a disease, you fool! Where were you 10 years prior when I needed you?”

I was empathizing with the women sharing their experiences. However, by then, I was a strong, proud woman! I was at the point, where God was sending to me women, friends, kids, parents, with whom I could help and bond.

I became a God Seeker-Listener-Reader! I couldn’t get enough information about how to improve my character.

One of my favorite scriptures: Psalms 46:10

Be still and know that I am God…..It spoke so powerfully to my spirit. It was in stillness and spending quiet time with Him, that my life began to change.

Things that I thought were big issues became trivial. I learned to live with a relaxed spirit and began to enjoy my life.

From birth, I knew that I was meant to be a teacher. I was raised in the country north of Cincy. Every weekend we had both sides of the family for Sunday picnics from Memorial Day-Labor day. When I watch the old movies, I was the one teaching, working, and playing with the little cousins.

How many times do we ask, ”Lord, what’s the next step? Where do I go from here?” I was in that place many times in my 67 yrs. In ’88 I was teaching Kindergarten at Little School in the Prairie. I had taught preschool there 7 years prior. For those 8 years I had been asking, ”Do I go back to school to get recertified?”

One morning while I was prepping I heard His voice clearly. :You can do a K-3 in a heartbeat.”

Two weeks later I was at The State Dept. figuring out what classes I needed for recertification.

By May, My Nursing Proff Sister, helped me register at Wright State. The rest is history. I was recertified and begin teaching K in ’90. Then I got my Masters through WSU in’95.   In the end, I taught 30 years, and retired in 2014.

Now I’m looking inside again for the next step that HE WILL PROVIDE. My section, The Story Teller, will fill you in about what is the next step that He plans for me to take.

So, my friends, if you’re asking, Knock, and He will open. Seek and you will find. Just be still and know that He is God.

Love and Prayers,

Granny
