SEPTEMBER 18

Colors: For a positive mindset: look to yellows. For guidance and clarity: turn towards shades of orange. While writing today’s devotion, the colors Dreamsicle, Lemon Curd, and Sunday Morning all stand out to me. All of these beautiful colors are from Zinsser SmartCoat.

Value of Concentration: Seek your CALLING, with a positive mindset.

Memory Verse:  ABBA, Father, show me the way, with clarity.

Good Morning, ABBA, Father,

As the cool, fall morning gently calls to me, I am preparing my time for the two of us.

My Cup of Fancy to share with you, as I write, is Maple Bourbon Decaf. Many of my flavored coffees come from The Morgan House, in Dublin, Ohio.

Last night, as I was reading in Psalms, I was praying what You wanted me to write about this morning. The word ”Calling,” kept jumping out at me.

Sure enough, as I read the Hebrews Scripture that You selected for today’s writing..there are the words,”Heavenly Calling.”

We all have one…a heavenly calling: be it parents pastors, priests, teachers, students, doctors, plumbers, builders, IT, and the list goes on and on. However, there is a huge difference in a calling….and just a job.

If you are a Christian…if The Holy Spirit lives within you and guides you….. you have “A Calling of Faith.”

My role model was my sister, Dr Gail..Phd in nursing. We had a Christian upbringing; yet domestic violence ruled our home.  She taught me to rise above.

My brother-in-law, became a nuclear scientist for the gov. His father ran a bar in Covington, Ky.  They lived in a condemned army barracks at UT in 1963.  Their faith and determination taught me that the impossibilities in my mind….were possible.

I know many of you are afraid, as was I so many times. God took me apart through horrific postpartum. Then through is guidance to a higher calling, He led me to climb the ladder of education,  get re-certified, earn my M.Ed, and teach for 30 years.

Now my higher calling is wife, mother, Gramma Farm, and God’s Author….also I scrapbook and paint.

If you are afraid, to take the jump..to quote Joyce Meyer,”Do it afraid!” Man O man…did I ever.

The other night Farmer and I were watching a TV miniseries from 40 years ago. I commented to him; “I was watching this program the night before I started teaching preschool at Little School. I was terrified.”

He commented,”And look to where God has brought you now.”  “The first night I milked cows here in 1974, I was terrified!” “It was my job to build this family and this farm, only with God’s guidance.”

By the way,  over 51 years, we paid for half the farm plus 20 acres, gut a farm house built in 1890 and did the last big remodel in 2012. The first year we were married, after our bills were paid out of my teaching check we had $7.00 left….and did without.

We serve a Mighty God, who guides our lives in directions, that will affect our futures……if you pray for your calling, and your guidance …HE WILL ANSWER!

Praise You, ABBA, for being my faithful guide. Thank You, for blessing me this day.

MY CHILD: Once you DIGEST MY HOLY WORD…..I will speak to you softly. Go this way…go that way. I will bring ideas, and lay them in your lap.

In 1972…the chances of an Elementary Art Teaching Job being available, in your school district, were one in a billion.

However, I provided it and opened the door.

In 1988, after much prayer: the time was right for you to get re-certified. You got rehired and became a Kindergarten Teacher. Your sister insisted on you starting your Masters. LOLOL Within a week, an M.Ed. Program was put in place for three years, in your school district.  My time was right.

Jeremiah 33:3…CALL ON ME…and I will answer you and teach you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Have Faith! Believe! I am working behind the scenes for you I love you.

Your,
ABBA, Father

Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

2 Cor.4:18  So we fix not our eyes on what is seen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
