DEATH IS A MYSTERY

Everyone will face death during their lifetime; the death of a loved one, a friend, a coworker, a “fur friend”, a neighbor, someone. This isn’t an easy thing, either. No matter who the person is, what happened, their age, none of it changes the finality and the pain. This year alone my husband has experienced the loss of five family members: 3 brothers, an aunt, and a cousin. All of them were illness related. The devastation the family experiences is so painful! For myself, it’s not knowing how to help him the most through the moment. I want to take his pain, I want to erase the hurt, and I want to wipe away all the tears. However, I know I can’t because this grief is a process that all must go through at some point. It is painful but it gives us a moment to reflect and even question.

We have the chance to question God. We can ask why, raging and yelling, spilling our tears. We can put all of our hurt and fear at God’s feet and let Him have the “trash”. We may never understand the why for someone’s death, but if we sit and wait we have opportunity to hear from God. He speaks in large and small ways. Sometimes, it’s a friend calling to check on us, a smile from a stranger, a song that plays on the radio, and if we are paying attention we will know it’s Him.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength

Lord watch over all who are troubled, sad, fearful, sick, or in mourning
In Jesus precious name, amen
