On this national holiday, a day set aside to remember all who labor and toil to take care of and support our country, let us also remember those who work behind the scenes.

The mothers, fathers, grandparents and sometimes neighbor’s who work for families. Doing all they can to keep afloat, heads above water, sometimes just barely floating. God sees these mighty efforts. He doesn’t leave us or let us drown. He keeps our head above the waters and protects us during storms.

This was shared with me and now I share with you:

Sitting quietly waiting for God isn’t weakness but a sign of strength. It is very difficult to face the enemy quietly when we want to either stand and fight or turn to run. God teaches us to sit and wait for Him to act against the enemy and that takes great strength.

Father, sit with each of us as we learn to sit quietly. Give us courage to fight the battles.

In God’s grace and time, amen
