PETIE AND SADIE GIVE THE GIGGLES

Or..Take The Ball And Run With It!

Laughter is the BEST MEDICINE!

ECC. 3:4 There is a time to laugh!

Man Oh Man! Man’s best friend… My two Chocolate Labs and the lessons they teach.

On these hot afternoons, they are usually at my feet, as I write; curled up on the cool kitchen floor. They are siblings; litter mates.

When she gets bored, Sadie will come up and nudge my arm or lick my legs. She is the “Tigger.” Bounthee! Bounthee!….that’s my Sadie. She is also the dominant one. She’ll wrassle Petie to make sure that she gets in the door first.

Petie is my “Eeyore!” He’s very quiet and sweet. He’ll wait at the tree and let her in the door first, so he doesn’t get attacked.

Now we have a new scenario. Last summer, I inherited a deflated basketball from one of my sons. So I decided to kick it around the yard, and Sadie has somewhat adopted it as her pacifier.

Whenever I take them out together, Sadie picks up the ball and runs like hell, out the door. My command; Getcha Baw! Baw! Sadie!

I’ll throw it around the yard, and she “Takes the ball and runs with it!” The neat thing; when she’s got the ball, all of Petie’s problems are solved.

Her concentration is now on the ball and getting in the house. He can run to the house at his own leisure.

A LESSON LEARNED; when we have a problem, we need to take the ball and run with it. Push forward and do the best we can, with the given circumstances. When you make positive choices, things seem to work out eventually.

It’s up to us to ignite good things to happen in our lives. God can guide us. However, the job is ours to do.

Petie teaches me to just take one day at a time and not worry about the, ”What Ifs!”

Keeping one’s mind calm and at peace is something we all need to work at in this present day of chaos.

As does Petie, we need to concentrate on working at the job, with a steady pace. Says the Tortoise to the Hare: “Slow and Steady wins the race.”

HEAVENLY FATHER: With all of the chaos going on in the world, teach us to calm down, look at our problems, and take the ball and run with it. Amen
