2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is the God of all compassion and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all of our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble, with the comfort that we have received from God.
Nov. 11.2019…. one day before my 70th birthday…. I awakened with horrible, nauseous vertigo. It is caused by crystals in your inner ear getting out of sync.
I knew what I was in for throughout the day. I knew what caused it. I knew how to solve the problem. Lord Jesus walk with me this day!
Let me take you back. In ’96, while looking up at the blackboard at school, I had a small, indifferent spell of vertigo.
I got on the medicine Meclizine given to me by my family doctor. I went to a specialist, got a few exercises, and thought nothing of it. Forward 8 years.
When I started out on my CPAP, I used the nasal pillows, which worked great; however, often my mask would leak, therefore I thought, ”Oh! I’ll try a full mask. That should definitely be better.” BIG MISTAKE…BIG MISTAKE! Twice within two years I experienced horrific vertigo.
My ENT…..God bless you Eric Fleming….. He tilts me way back in the chair and does these exercises that pull me back into normal function.
I was teaching at the time. As I walked around school that next day I could feel the crystals settling in my inner ear. “Enough of this mess. Back to the nasal pillows!’
Forward 10 years…YOU’D THINK I HAD LEARNED MY LESSON….WRONG!
This past summer, I went to a new CPAP Doctor. I tried a brand new mask. BIG MISTAKE! BIG MISTAKE! LOLOL… my country relatives always taught me the following: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
Nov. the 3 rd I went to Prairie Oaks for the first time, and jumped around during water aerobics.
Beforehand, I began to walk in the vortex pool and realized very quickly that I needed to get the heck outta there!
The next few days, using that “New Great Mask,” was all it took.
The morning of Nov. 11’19 I knew what the day was going to bring, even before my feet hit the ground.
I held on to the walls to get downstairs, tears streaming down my face. “I have horrible vertigo! You’re going to have to help me a lot today and get me to my ENT!”
Men! Helping me get dressed, hooking my bra…LOLOL.. that was a story and a half!
As I entered the office, I denied the service of a wheelchair; however, it would not be so by the end of my visit.
My sweet Dr. Fleming does his tilt chair exercises. The two times before, I was fine as the procedure finished. NOT THIS TIME!
I held onto my husband as I went to the rest room…LOLO… I was still so sick that I couldn’t pull down my drawers. My husband was so sweet.
As I stood to leave the restroom and reach for the wheelchair, I screamed, ”Trashcan!” You guessed it. I tossed my cookies!
As the nurse began to wheel me to the car, I felt the slightest wince of normalcy.
The Doctor called in Zofran for nausea, and Meclizine for dizziness, at the CVS directly across from his office.
Ingesting my meds immediately, we started our journey home. By the time we got there, I saw a big improvement.
Now mind you…..I have nursed my husband through 2 knees ,one ankle, and one hip replacements. LOLOL Watching him trying to become Florence Nightingale was an eye opener.
My Meclizine dose was ½ a pill every 3 hrs. To get MR. Giant fingers to do the job was going to be a sight to see.
MEN…I gave him the following directions:
“Within one of my 2 drawers, right in front of my makeup mirror, there is a pill splitter. Please bring it to me.”
Men…LOLOLOL!!!!!! What did he do? He brought down two entire small drawers to make sure that I found the pill splitter! LOLOLOL!!!! MEN! MEN!!! What we deal with as women!!!!!!!
Believe it or not, he is finally trying to cook after 47 years of marriage. He made me 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and Jello.
Praise God! By the end of the day, I was in good shape. However, for two nights, I had to sleep downstairs in my reclining love seat with the doggies for, until my new nasal pillow mask arrived. BY THE END OF THE DAY, I WAS IN GREAT SHAPE! Why? Life begins when you make choices.
I made a proactive choice with a great end result. ALWAYS BE PROACRIVE WITH YOUR HEALTH!
HEAVENLY FATHER: I praise your for the wisdom and knowledge that helped me to become proactive within this situation. No matter the fret or worries, help those who seek you diligently, feel Your presence in all situations. In Jesus Name I pray.
