Wisdom In The Stillness Of Morning

Psalm 46: 10 Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 37: 7 Be still in the presence of The Lord and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their evil schemes.

It’s 4:30 a.m. Every Monday and Thursday mornings, my husband and I are “Up and at Em!” No! Not milking or teaching: we are morning transportation for twin 6 yr. old grandsons.

Last Thursday, we drove separate vehicles. I had the annual female appointments close by. Besides those two scheduled events, I made a quick grocery stop, followed by a birthday luncheon. Of course this was followed by a trip to Jennie’s Ice Cream… WHEW! I’m tired just recalling that go….go….go.

As I got in the car, the radio was on full blast! Dear Lord! Did I do that? I quickly shut it off!

There was a full moon; thus, a great source of light for 5:15 a.m.

Time to enjoy the stillness….the quiet….. the best time of the day….as God speaks to me and I listen.

I had to train myself to listen, and receive His peace of mind. I had to learn to flush out the fears, anxieties, and worries of this world.

When I’m in my quiet mode, He speaks. “I’m here, guiding this day so that you may continue to touch lives for me. I love how you bless those Little Ones. In turn, you are teaching them how to be great parents, as you taught your boys.”

While driving, I often pray my rosary, or just speak to Him one on one. It’s such a therapy for calming my mind.

The world loves to throw us into a frenzy! It’s a loud, busy place. Stress easily overwhelms us. However, each morning on your drive to work, you can enjoy the stillness and have your quiet time.

You may want to listen to a quiet radio station or worship music. Choose what’s best for you.

Before my eldest son switched coaching jobs, he’d go over scripture with the twins and have them memorize a verse for the day.

If you organize yourself the night before, a quiet morning can be initiated.
* Pack lunches.
* Have book bags packed
* Make sure that homework is done.
* Have clothes laid out the night before.
* Make sure that shoes, socks, coats, and hats are always in the same place.
* Make sure that you teach them to have a personal prayer/detox time before bed.

TRAIN YOURSELF….GET IN THE HABIT…. of giving yourself God Time. HE’S WAITING FOR YOU.

HEAVENLY FATHER: Open the eyes of those who suffer from stress and anxiety. Help them to get in the habit of seeking you; thus gaining perfect peace. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen,

Sue Cutler
