The 70’s

DRIVE THE TRACTOR!
PLOUGH THROUGH IT!
You’ll Come Out Stronger On The Other Side.
Psalm 112:7 He will have no fear of bad news. His heart is steadfast trusting in the Lord.
This scripture sounds good doesn’t it?
It’s great to say, ”I’ve been through a lot. I’m a survivor. The suffering defined me and I’m a strong woman.”
It’s all true. I am a very strong woman. However, I still have a lot of fields to plough.
My husband and I both have grown a lot together in 46 years.
Here’s how poor we were in 1972, at 22 and 23 years old. It was our first crop. No one had his own bins or dryers. Farmers had to take their crops to the elevator and wait in line to unload them.
Due to the horrendously wet fall, farmers waited in line for hours until crops were dried.
We didn’t own a combine then. His bachelor cousins came and got our crops out the 6th of Feb., 1973. Unreal. When we got the first crop for $25,000, we thought we were rich.
We lived off my $222 a month teaching check. After we paid our bills, we had $17 left. We would go into his mom’s on Fri to do laundry. She felt so sorry for us, that she took us out to eat every Fri.
We didn’t use credit cards. I don’t think that they even existed back then. For Xmas, we bought our parents gifts with Green Stamps. My husband bought me a plastic knife sharpener for a dollar. LOLOL!!! I still have it.
HEAVENLY FATHER: Give us peace through trauma. Help us to become mentally strong and make godly, wise decisions. Help us to know that You are holding our hands, and are walking with us through the storm.
In Jesus Precious Name, I pray.
