Trying To Be All Things To All People

I FRIED AND I CRIED
Trying To Be All Things To All People

Phillippians 4: 6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Women can multitask. However, sometimes we go overboard, which was the case last week. My hubby had a knee replacement. I was in charge of all the appointments, meds, phone calls, you name it.
Surgery was on June 11. As anyone knows, there is always stress upon those, who are the caretakers. Things went well. I went to bed early that night, but awakened at 4:30a.m. Couldn’t sleep due to thinking about all of the things that I had to do.
After making sure that the house was readied for the patient, I arrived at the hospital about 8:30. Unfortunately, we didn’t get home until 3 p.m. To say the least, I was exhausted.
Our middle son was there to help him get settled, as I took off in a whirlwind. “Breathe, Sue. Slow down. You’ll get through this. God is with me.”
I went and got hubby’s prescriptions, got my allergy shot, ran and picked up dinner, then crashed.
My stubborn man doesn’t like to be doted upon, but in this case, my TLC was well received. With icing his knee, and keeping meds in tack, I was doing a great job.
That eve I was cleaning lettuce from the garden, unfortunately, too much got down the disposal. Husband and son were obviously not happy with me, as the expert plumbers fixed the mess I’d made. I was ready to “Boo Hoo”, but calmed myself down.
Fathers Day: Trying to get those yucky compression hose off wasn’t easy. As I got things ready for him to shower, my eldest son called. “Mom we’re on our way home from the lake. We’ll stop by in an hour.”
Well, I went into Super Mom mode. I had steaks out for dinner, so I popped them on the grill, French Fries in the oven, ran in and placed Papa’s dirty clothes in the wash, and welcomed the kids.
Right after lunch, my hubby questioned, ”Did you take my phone out of my pocket?” My heart sank to my stomach! The tears started to flow. I fried his phone in the washer. Yes, I fried and I cried!
To my surprise, my man was rather sweet about it. “Mom is just trying to do too many things at once. She’s been doing a good job. His new phone was up and running by Tues. p.m., of course, thanks to me.
My girlfriends and I often look at each other and comment:” How in God’s name did we get up at 5a.m., work all day, cook, and do homework for all those years?” By the Grace of God, we did!
HEAVENLY FATHER: Help all mothers to realize that they don’t have to be perfect. Give them the wisdom to know that You are near, and that Your peace will comfort them through all trials.
In Jesus Precious Name, I pray. Amen.
