DO LITTLE THINGS IN A BIG WAY Mother Teresa

Saint Mother Teresa: She is a role model for all who proclaim to be a Christian.

Each of us has said at one point in our lives, “I could never make a difference…..not that big! “ Well friends, she didn’t do big things. She began by bringing in the homeless and the dying in India.  It grew from there.

We all have done many little things. I saw my husband become Jesus this morning. It was only for one minute, if that. We were at the doc for his hearing aids this morning. A sweet little Afro-American care -taker was wheeling in her 90-year-old patient. My husband held the door for them, and gave them a kindly greeting.

As a teacher, I was at my door with my arms open, each morning.  I wanted to be totally the opposite of some of the teachers I had.  My students were going to be loved and excited to come to school each and every day.

I have a perfect example that occurred as my friend and I were leaving the movie theater. We were entering the restroom, and heard a little girl crying out, ”Daddy! Daddy! I need you!” Dad was

outside the restroom horribly distressed. Nan and I each jumped into our educator mode. “We’re teachers, Dad. We’ll go in and get her.”

As we went to the child’s stall we said, ”Jenny, we are teachers. We’re here to help you and take you to Daddy, OK?  Miss Sue and Miss Nan are here to take care of you.” Sobbing she answered, Ok here I am.”  We gathered her in, washed her hands, and returned her to Dad.

With tears in his eyes, Dad commented, “ You two are guardian angels.  I’ll never knock teachers ever again.

We didn’t feel as though we did a great thing. We just stepped in, and did what we normally do on a daily basis. It was a little thing, but a very big thing to Dad.

HEAVENLY FATHER: Teach everyone how to touch the lives of each person, with whom they come in contact. Becoming fishers of men is a command that you gave to us. Allow us the education and guidance to ready our fishing poles. Amen
