Faith vs. Giants

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed Matthew 17:20

Faith-reliance, loyalty, complete trust in God or someone else

Faith….I really love this word because it is so interchangeable with trust. The Bible describes the faith of a child as being great. Have you ever watched a young infant, toddler, or preschooler? They will have complete trust in a person during their very early, formative years. They believe the adult when they are told something; they don’t start to ask ‘why’ until they are much closer to age four or five; and when they do ask they accept simple answers and explanations.

I guess, I have not left this stage! Especially as I look at my faith, my belief in God, the life and death of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. I have the belief, ‘God said it so I believe it’ mentality. When the Bible says something then I believe and it’s good enough for me! Think about the story of David fighting the giant. David believed he could do what others saw as impossible. Did that stop David? No way! He picked up those small stones and went to work, slaying the giant just as God had told him he would. David had faith and trust in the abilities God had given him. The Bible says it, I believe it happened just like that!

Jesus told the disciples not to keep the children from coming to Him to see Him. I pray that Christ sees me as a ‘child’ and that I am never kept from Him. It is my fondest desire to sit at His feet and hear the stories He has to tell, to give Him my complete adoration, and to know that I am truly a child of His!

Lord help me to always have faith and to continue to strive toward ‘moving’ the mountains that arise in our human lives. Amen
