God versus Fort Knox

Let those also who suffer….entrust their souls to a faithful creator….

1 Peter 4:19

What does Fort Knox look like? Have you ever wondered about it? Personally, I never gave it much thought. I have, however, been fascinated with older banks that have the fancy woodwork, windows, seats, and vaults. They look so official and ‘safe’.  As a child, I remember going with my parents to the bank to make deposits or conduct whatever banking business they had. It was usually a very quiet place, almost like a library; and people were waiting in line for their turn.

I always thought those were fun trips. But, I am even more fascinated with an even more important safe, or safe place, the cross. It holds more than money, diamonds, or pearls, it holds a promise. It holds the promise of eternal life. The best part of this safe, it is open and free to all who seek to take shelter within it’s promise. Banks make you do certain things to gain access to their safe and likewise God has the same criteria. God’s is very simple; believe that Jesus is the Son of God, believe he died on a cross and rose from the dead, and accept that He wants to be your savior and save you from the sin in your life, ask Him to save you and believe He has. That is it! No secret codes or passwords, no special rules to get into a vault to retrieve your treasure, and best of all, it is available 24/7. You don’t have to worry about banker’s hours!

Thank you, Lord, for the safety of the cross; the salvation it gives and the protection from eternal damnation to hell. I believe and accept. And all the treasures of the world cannot compare with the treasure and richness of eternal life! Amen
