SPOTLIGHT: THE STORYTELLER

Why Sue Blogs

Well, here I go! God has told me to put myself out there! I will reveal my story in sections with small bits and pieces. Whatever God does with this, is totally His job, not mine. I’m just being obedient.

Twenty years ago I had a very defining conversation with Col. Grandpa. While standing under our 400 year old Burr Oak tree in our barn lot I told him, ”Someday, this tree is going to tell a story.” He answered, “Honey, for what it’s worth, entitle it The Erstwhile Acorn.”

The following is the preface of my first book in the planning stages:

THE ERSTWHILE ACORN

Definition: Erstwhile-The rite of passage or becoming; growth; having been such at a previous time; teaching; forestry.

The Erstwhile Acorn: It begins as a tiny seed, created by the Hand of God. Once planted in the

soil, by some means of nature, The Little Seed finds It’s home. The seed ruptures, opens, and takes root. The elements of rain, heat and light nurture the tender seed as it begins to force its way above ground.

Stretching and reaching for the heavens, the acorn has now become a sapling. There are many forces that can deter the growth of the plant. Storms come and go, seasons pass, and The Little Acorn begins to dig deeply and make a firm stance. It takes root in Some One much bigger, than Mother Nature can begin to comprehend.

This Loving Entity of Grace engulfs the roots with spiritual magnetism. The roots are now deep, strong, and congruent with eternal life. No matter what the plant experiences, its foundation is strong!

Protruding upward, the plant gains strength. As branches twist and reach towards “The Sonlight,” the plant forms succulent leaves.

Leaves of brightly colored hues come and go as seasons pass. The Little Acorn has endured much, and has entrusted itself to the deeply rooted System of Grace.

Given its rite of passage from a tiny seed, the erstwhile acorn has been transformed into a Mighty Burr Oak! It stands mature in the “Son.” It is bold! It is brave! It maintains a Fearless Faith!

I AM THE ERSTWHILE ACORN!
