“Friends are friends forever, when the Lord’s the Lord of them”

Everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and nothing to take from it.

Ecclesiastes 3:14

Friendship. There is so much to be said for this wonderful institution God created. I have had friends over the years, they have come and gone, some have stayed true and close, and some have fallen away. Some, have remained quiet through the years, still there, just not ‘up close and personal’ because life sometimes gets in the way. One such friendship, is my friendship with Susie Q: a.k.a.-Susie Cutler.

Susie and I met many years ago. I was eighteen and right out of high school and Susie, well let’s just say she was older than that! Hahaha We were both working for a Christian school which was run by my home church, Lincoln Baptist. I was teaching 5 year olds and she was teaching our art program. We became ‘sisters of the heart’ and for the next 6 years we did so many explorations together! Then, as often happens, I changed jobs and life began to cause us to drift apart. It wasn’t that we had anything happen to cause a rift or anything, we were just both busy raising families and working, and it seemed there was never time to connect.

Then, five years ago, I was attending a new church in West Jeff. I had been widowed the year before and was pouring myself into lots of church activities-one of which was women’s ministry leader. As such, I was planning a women’s retreat complete with speakers. One of the ladies suggested I talk to a woman she worked with at school; she was a dynamic speaker with an amazing message! I said we would get the information from her after I checked with the committee members. At home that night, I was getting ready for bed when God told me, “You know that is Sue Cutler, right?” I stared at myself in the mirror and thought, what?! Now, where did that come from?

The next Sunday I asked the woman if her friend’s name happened to be Sue Cutler. It was her turn to look at me surprised .She looked at me so funny and said, “How did you know that?” I explained that God had told me the previous week. So we all got together at Sue’s house and what a reunion! I had seen her a couple times in the previous 30 years, but it had been probably close to 15years since I had talked with her.Since that day, she has been my matron of honor when I re-married, we have gotten together for lunch, breakfast, and now we are part of a weekly Bible study.

Then, at Christmas this year, I asked her to make a sketch for me because I was writing a devotional and needed a picture for the cover. She looked at me and said, “Well, that is what I have always wanted to do, write a devotional.”
So now we are writing/blogging as Entrusted Wisdom and God is beginning to open so many doors for us it is incredible!

I am constantly reminded how wonderful, loving and amazing my God is! The best part? He isn’t just mine, He is everyone’s and there for everyone. We just need to ask Him to come and spend life with us and He does! You might not have that same ‘long lost friend story’ happen, actually you probably won’t, but what other amazing thing will God do in your life? He is just waiting for you to ask. So, get busy, start praying, and just wait for the amazing things He does in Your life!

In Him, now and always;
