A Rainy Afternoon

A picture is worth 1000 words. Dad sleeping in the chair. Our 3 Chocolate Labs… Polli(Apollo) curled up on the couch. Petie is sprawled out in the doorway. Sadie is wedged at my feet, under the recliner.

It is a totally different picture from yesterday. Grand Central Station would be describing it lightly. Here’s the picture:

  • Grain spilling into gravity wagons, as the heartbeat of the steady combines whir musically.
  • Tractors buzzing in and out bumping along to the loading bins.
  • Augers pulsing the grain along, as it drops the contents to the swish of the motors.
  • Mom in the kitchen, preparing luscious meals for the hungry crew. NO…. I’M SUSIE FARMWIFE…NOT THE PIONEER WOMAN!

Today……. It’s raining. There’s 30 acres of corn left to shell. We both worked til one p.m. today after yesterday’s hustle. Then we crashed. It’s dreary…..but oh so cozy. Everyone ‘s a sleepy head. There’s grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner.

LIFE ON THE FARM IS GREAT!
