Reaching For The Stars

1 Cor 12:7-11 Now to each one the manifestation of The Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through The Spirit wisdom, to another the message of knowledge, and to others gifts of faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophesy, distinguishing between spirits, and speaking in tongues. All of these are the work of one and the same Spirit. He gives them to each one of us as He determines.

Each one of us has been given special gifts from God. However, what you do with those gifts are your gifts back to Him.

I can already see different gifts within our twin grandsons. Praise God, our son and his beautiful wife are raising them with love, faith, family and work ethic…just as he was raised.

As I was spending time with God this morning, this came to me.

….You deserve to be excellent.

…..Everyone deserves to be excellent.

…..However, you need to become your own best kind of excellence.

First and foremost….EDUCATION! The difference between the wealthy/middleclass-and those on welfare……they were inspired, educated, and ,SETTLED FOR MORE-Thank you Megyn Kelly.

I was raised middle class, but I was inspired with faith, to study, work hard, be proud of my accomplishments, and succeed.

My mother graduated from high School and went to a 2 year business school. My dad only completed his freshman year. It was the Great Depression and he had to work 2 jobs to help his family.

From a factory worker to a head supervisor at GE in Cincinnati, he worked his way up through the ranks. He was known as “Sarge,” since he trained all of the college employees in the ‘60’s. When he retired in’ 75, he was the only supervisor without a college degree.

He was an avid reader. As one who craved wisdom, learning, and knowledge, he expected all of us to achieve. My sister is a retired PhD. Nursing Gerontologist at WSU. I received my Masters in Education from WSU. My brother received his degree in journalism.

HOWEVER…….not everyone is meant to go to college. God bless all of those who bless us with services. I have a Mennonite Family that are close friends. Their excellence in the building business is over the top. None of the boys went to college.

My 93 year old Dear One named Dude….He worked for my dad in his electrical business. He was my hero in many aspects, and could work circles around anyone.

Those in any type of service, can provide their best service if they decide to become their own best excellence. My best friend’s daughter is a pastry chef in NC. Trust me, every visit; I usually put on a few lbs.

Last week as I was walking into Kroger’s, this cute young man carrying flowers, came up and hugged me. “My LIL Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer!” I exclaimed. He had informed me that he had just become a husband and father.” You are going to BE EXCELLENT, and that’s not a question!”

We had a great conversation. Since he had made some bad mistakes previously, this old K Teacher gave him the “What For!” “I will personally kick your butt and come get you if you are not excellent! LOL!!!

I assured him that his first, best excellence was to be husband and father. Second, I advised him to work hard at his black top job to care of his family.

So my friends, become the best and most respectful husband, wife/child possible. Become the best at your job, and you will climb the ladder.

Give your heart and soul to whatever you believe in, and you will become your…BEST KIND OF EXCELLENCE.

Love,

Granny
