Find the artist within… you can learn the skill.

Everyone is an artist in his own way. Find your talent, your skill, and create. Self- expression is vital to our well being.

I have friends that create in all different venues. Having been a former art teacher, I love to paint, draw, create etc. However, blogging has not allowed a lot of time for that. So, until I put aside special time to dabble in my colors, my writing is my creation.

My good friend Di never picked up a brush in her life. She could sew and had somewhat of a creative side. She worked in the medical field for years. Her logic and organizational skill were far superior to mine.

Years ago, she expressed a desire to go along with me to the decorative Arts League, to which I belonged. She had a desire to learn technique. I encouraged her with the truth that, “Any art skill can be learned if you have a desire to learn and practice.”

She now has an amazing small business. She paints wooden eggs. She creates, Santas, Easter Bunnies, chicks, leprechauns, pilgrims, and many other characters, She is not great at drawing. However, her creations are over the top, as her skill improves.

Another person in my life is Alex Wells Goode. She leads the blog,” Letters from a Good Friend.” Talk about creative!!! She blogs, creates, and has many different sections within her blog of “How To’s.”

My farmer husband can’t draw a stick figure. However, his artistry is complete, in the fields of corn, which bow its leaves to the sun. His greatest peace of mind is clearing his head. This occurs when he’s on the tractor, cutting and working ground.

Perhaps your artistry is music. Di’s grandson plays the violin, due to the fact that Gramma Mary was the first to exude this talent.

Music, singing and dancing were huge, in my family growing up. I was the youngest of four growing up in the 50’s/60’s. Every night we sang and danced along with American Bandstand.

Years ago, I painted murals on the bedroom walls of my nephews kids. The nursery was painted Curious George. Another room was cars and planes. The girl’s room was a beach scene. I had a great deal of fun in the process. I still have pictures of the kids helping me.

Self-expression makes you “Who you are!” Find your art, your talent, and go for it! Remember, you can learn any artistic skill. It just takes desire, and practice.

Love,

Granny
